Ilha Terceira - Açores

Queremos desde já pedir desculpa aos interessados pela demora nesta publicação. Temos estado ocupados com coisas boas, novidades que vos daremos dentro de poucos meses... ;)

A nossa estadia na Ilha Terceira foi curta demais. Foi uma verdadeira maratona percorrer os locais de interesse da ilha em apenas dois dias e meio, sendo que alguns não pudemos desfrutar no seu melhor devido ao mau tempo, como foi o caso do Monte Brasil ou do Pico de Santa Bárbara... Já tínhamos sido avisados que é costume a presença de um "capacete" de nuvens, mas mesmo assim fomos recebidos por uns bonitos raios de sol no primeiro dia. 

Mal saímos do aeroporto fomos directos para as piscinas naturais da praia dos biscoitos. 




We would like to apologize for the belated post to those who are interested. We have been busy with nice things, news to be revealed in a few months... ;)

Our stay at Terceira Island was way too short. It was a marathon to go to all the places of interest in the island in only two and a half days, and some places weren't even to its best due to the bad weather, such as Monte Brasil or the Santa Bárbara Peak... We had been warned that the presence of a cloud "helmet" is usual, but we were still welcomed by some beautiful sun rays on the first day.

As soon as we left the airport we headed to the natural pools of Biscoitos beach.

Daqui seguimos para o Museu do Vinho, mas demos apenas um gole cada um para não arruinar a viagem de barco que se seguia com o intuito de ver as tão faladas baleias. Devido à intensidade do trabalho - o video promocional para o Turismo de Portugal - não conseguimos fotografar todos os locais por onde passámos, mas queremos partilhar convosco algumas das vistas mais incríveis que conseguimos captar.



From there we went to the wine museum, but we took only one sip each so we wouldn't ruin the upcoming boat trip to spot the whales.
Due to the intensity of our work - the promotional video for Turismo de Portugal - we couldn't photograph all the places we passed by, but we want to share with you some of the most amazing views we managed to capture.

Outro local imperdível numa visita à ilha Terceira é o Algar do Carvão, o interior de um vulcão adormecido, onde se situa a 100m de profundidade uma lagoa de águas cristalinas. Apesar de já termos viajado um pouco pelo mundo nunca tínhamos sentido o misticismo de um lugar como este. É impossível mostrar em fotografia aquilo que realmente se vê nesta visita ao interior da Terra, tal como a Gruta do Natal, por onde também passámos.

Durante o percurso dos Mistérios Negros parece que o tempo pára. Tudo à nossa volta parece um cenário, parece que estamos dentro do filme "Senhor dos Anéis" sem termos de nos transformar em anões ou elfos.  


Another place not to be missed when visiting Terceira Island is the Algar do Carvão, the inside of a sleeping volcano, where a lagoon of crystal waters can be found at a depth of 100 metres. Even though we have travelled a bit around the world we had never felt the mysticism of a place like this. It is impossible to show in a photograph what is really seen on this visit to the inside of the Earth, just like the cave Gruta do Natal, where we also went.

During the walk trough the Mistérios Negros path time seems like time stops. Everything around us looks like the background of a movie set, it feels like we're part of the "Lord of the Rings" film without having to become in dwarfs or elfs.

Como não podia deixar de ser também passámos umas boas horas a passear pela cidade de Angra do Heroísmo, admirando as bonitas portas e janelas do centro histórico e passando pelo largo da Igreja da Misericórdia e pela Sé Catedral. Ao passear pela baía conseguimos imaginar a naus do século XV ancoradas no porto. 

We obviously also spent a good few hours walking around the city of Angra do Heroísmo, admiring the doors and windows and going by the Igreja da Misericórdia Square and the Cathedral. As we went past the bay we could imagine the 15th century ships anchored in the port.

Foi demasiado curta, mas mesmo assim maravilhosa esta visita à Ilha Terceira. Ficámos com muita vontade de voltar com mais tempo e somente para desfrutar sem ser em trabalho. Por conhecer ficaram as restantes Ilhas do arquipélago dos Açores em que as maravilhas são infindáveis. Apesar de já conhecermos a Ilha de S.Miguel, ainda temos muito para explorar neste arquipélago que parece ter segredos muito bem guardados...


It was too short and yet wonderful this visit to Terceira Island. We are now wishing to go back with a lot more time to simply enjoy and not have to work. The remaining islands of the Azores Archipelago are still to be discovered and its wonders seem to be endless. Although we already know S.Miguel Island, we still have a lot to explore in this archipelago filled with well kept secrets.
