Magaruque - So close to paradise (10th of April)

We got on the traditional dhow in Vilanculo at around 8.30am. After a while there was some problem with the engine and the boat just started floating aimlessly. It was great that the engine stopped because it made the trip even more delightful. It allowed us to really listen to the local people singing on the passing dhows, be greeted by enormous smiles and be cradled by the sea. The engine started working again eventually and we got off at the island's southwestern corner for some snorkeling and just relaxing. Just as we thought this tropical paradise couldn't get better we were surprised by dolphins. In places like this everything is so peaceful and quiet, it's as if all our troubles are washed away.
Dinner time was a complete opposite experience. We went to a local place where Vilanculo's inhabitants pay 20 meticais to watch the football. It was crazy! Even though we were the only two foreigners in that crowded room we were welcomed very warmly. The friendliness of the locals sitting next to us made our crab matapa and squid even tastier. We heard expressions we had never heard before when they referred to the match:
"It's malaria, it'll end up going away"
"It's a mosquito sting, won't take too long"
And the most important one we should always keep in mind:
"Health is what matters, all the rest is just stuff in life"
